Jenson Button confirmed for classic celebrations

jenson buttonJenson Button is breaking off from his busy preparations for the forthcoming grand prix season to attend the opening night of this month’s London Classic Car Show (18-21 February). The 2009 Formula One World Champion will be joined by the evening’s host Suzi Perry plus top guests from the motor sport and classic car worlds.

Thursday’s star-studded Preview Evening will introduce a four-day Great Debate to determine ‘which nation has produced the world’s best cars’. It will also celebrate two very special icons: the fearsome Group B rally era with legendary driver Ari Vatanen and the world’s greatest classic supercar – the McLaren F1 – with its genius designer Gordon Murray.

Special guests will also include Alain de Cadenet, Tom Ford, Jodie Kidd , Bruno Senna  and Jonny Smith.

The evening will commence with the Opening Ceremony for the Classic Six Nations Cup staged on The Grand Avenue, an automotive catwalk allowing visitors to see, hear and even smell many of the world’s finest cars in motion.

To bring the Great Debate to life, ten exceptional cars have been selected to represent the British, French, German, Italian, Japanese and US motor industries. Thursday night’s Opening Ceremony will be the only time visitors will see all six teams parading together, as thereafter the nations will be pitched into head-to-head heats on Friday and Saturday building up to a grand finale on Sunday afternoon.

Although Perry and her guests will open the Great Debate, ultimately it will be the people who will decide with more than 30,000 show-goers voting for their favourite country, making this the biggest ever poll to settle the ‘where do the best cars come from’ conundrum.
